ISO 9001:2015 is still the current published edition. A revised version, ISO 9001:2026, has completed final ballot and is expected to be officially published around mid-September 2026. The update focuses on clarity and modernization rather than a major overhaul: core requirements stay largely the same, with clearer wording, a new Annex A defining key terms, stronger emphasis on leadership and quality culture, added attention to climate change and sustainability, and more clearly defined risk-and-opportunity requirements. Organizations already certified to ISO 9001:2015 are expected to get a multi-year transition period (typically around three years from publication) to move to the new edition, so there is no need to rush. We're tracking the rollout closely and can guide your organization through the transition once the final requirements and certification body timelines are confirmed.
